SFA's Long Term Care Fitness Leader, Full (Professional) Certification training program will earn you the most recognized, senior specific, fitness credential available. Your SFA Long Term Care Fitness Leader educational program can open up new professional opportunities for you as an exercise leader working with frail and disabled elderly clients in nursing homes, congregate living facilities and adult day care centers.
You can share health and hope with frail elderly and disabled older adults in nursing homes, adult day-care centers, and assisted living environments. Learn how to work productively with regard to stroke, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other serious medical concerns. Lead model chair-seated exercise classes, wheelchair sports, and mental fitness activities. Learn strategies for fighting depression, enhancing self-esteem, increasing functional independence, and improving quality of life.
Like all SFA, Full (Professional) Certification training programs, our Long Term Care Fitness Leader certification package is designed to meet or exceed the "International Curriculum Guidelines for Preparing Physical Activity Instructors of Older Adults" and the "Recommended National Standards for Preparing Senior Fitness Instructors."

It also contains a complete information and instructions manual, the SFA certification examination fee and related processing fees as well as professional membership in the American Senior Fitness Association.
Successful completion of the Long Term Care Fitness Leader, Certification program requires sitting for a closed book, proctored examination. You will be required to have current CPR and Basic 1st Aid certification.
You will earn an internationally recognized professional credential as an American Senior Fitness Association certified, Long Term Care Fitness Leader. Your SFA certification is valid for two years and can be renewed by earning 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) of approved continuing education and maintaining valid CPR and Basic 1st Aid certification. A $35.00 renewal fee applies.
NOTE:Your professional certification program contains a set of the resources to enable you to complete the Part One and Part Two open book tests. These tests can be completed whenever suits your schedule and are accepted by most fitness organizations for up to 24 hours (2.4 CEUs) continuing education credit.
